I like things that never stay still that keep evolving

This Band is worth giving your options (time)

POP ETC is the new name of the band formerly known as The Morning Benders. The Morning Benders were known for their mellow acoustic feel, but POP ETC takes the band in a very different direction. POP ETC is mostly electronic, a near 180 degree flip from the sound the band used to have. The melodies are a bit stronger and, as the name implies, quite a bit poppier. While it is more upbeat, it’s still laid-back to a certain degree. Like Foster the People on anti-depressants, as my friend put it, though a closer comparison might be Royksopp or Starfucker. The POP ETC mixtape is pretty short. A couple of the 11 tracks are barely a minute long and just fill from one song to the next. Overall, the album has a couple of really strong hits, if you’re into this kind of thing. Definitely worth checking out.

And check out The Morning Benders while you’re at it. Same band, different feel.

I will remember your face
‘Cause I am still in love with that place
When the stars are the only things we share
Will you be there?

I’ve got a plan
I’ve got an atlas in my hands
I’m gonna turn when I listen to the lessons that I’ve learned

Sifiso Nxasana, a prominent young businessman, died last week from complications of his Kidney. He was 27 years old. Soft-spoken and gentle, Nxasana never looked the part of a hopeless adventurer. But, in the final days of his life, he revealed an unknown side of his psyche. This hidden quasi-Jungian persona surfaced during the Agatha Christie-like pursuit of his friends and families happiness everyday he lived. Yet even in certain defeat, the courageous Sifiso secretly clung to the belief that life is not merely a series of meaningless accidents or coincidences. Uh-uh. But rather, its a tapestry of events that culminate in an exquisite, sublime plan. Asked about the loss of his dear friend, Kweku Mandela, described Sifiso as a changed man in the last days of his life. “Things were clearer for him,” Mandela noted. Ultimately Sifiso concluded that if we are to live life in harmony with the universe, we must all possess a powerful faith in what the ancients used to call “fatum”, what we currently refer to as destiny.
